Embellish Fabric Color Challenge :: Sponsored by Whimsie Doodles
9 Comments »Posted in ChallengeMar 12, 2010

Whimsie Doodles sells digital and rubber stamps. The images are hand drawn by Melyssa Connolly. The rubber images come on one sheet and have a cling back for each acrylic block mounting. The digital images are ready-to-download .jpg files. Check out the store today for some great new finds in the stamp industry.
This challenge requires you to create a project that includes fabric. You can incorporate the theme in many ways, such as a card, scrapbook layout, mini book, tag, gift bag, box, etc. The main colors are highlighted in Polaroid inspired color swatches. For suggested colors, see Papertrey Ink’s pure poppy, kraft, enchanted evening, and new leaf. Slight color changes for each hue are permitted, but try to keep the colors as close as possible to the colors listed above. White or cream are optional color choices to add to your projects to create neutrality. Outlined images in brown or black are also acceptable for this challenge. Remember, colors can be incorporated into your project in more ways than cardstock.
Don’t forget:
- Use the colors in the Polaroid-inspired color swatches (featured in the image above) and
- Use fabric (i.e., canvas, cotton, felt, etc.)

After the challenge ends, the design team will select six designers who created hot projects to highlight. Additionally, there will be a designer who will be featured and will win the stamps pictured below. Please click on the image to see the product on Whimsie Doodle’s web site. The featured designers and the winner will be posted next week. The winner must contact Embellish Magazine within 48 hours of the announcement. We reserve the right to select a new winner if the designer makes no contact.
Ashley created a card that used distressing and a scalloped edge felt border.
Charlene created a clean and graphic card that used a fabric strip she turned into a ribbon.
Maile applied her clean and simple design to create this “berry sweet” card and used fabric to make a flower.
Mariana showcased the stamps in all their glory and used denim as her fabric element.
Sarah created a pretty card that featured lots of texture with borders.
Tina made her card showcase a houndstooth fabric around the jar lid.
