• Embellish Labels Color Challenge :: Sponsored by Waltzingmouse Stamps

Claire Brennan, is a stay at home mum to three funny little people. She’s been hooked on stamping for a while now and had dreams of designing stamps when her husband arranged for a manufacturer to make some stamp sets from her designs. She designed two sets of clear photopolymer stamps and they had them made to the highest specification they could find.  They are great quality, thick, durable stamps that you can see through and they are so easy to use.  They have naturally sticky backs and adhere to clear acrylic stamping blocks by themselves making it so easy to position the image right where you want it.

The first two stamp sets were launched from Claire’s blog and she’s delighted to say they ‘went down a storm!’ and so she designed some more…you can see them all by clicking on the link for All Clear Stamps – simply click on a set for a more detailed view.

Claire lives and works at home in Northern Ireland and her tiny little company is barely a year old, but she has lots of lovely customers who keep coming back. Waltzingmouse Stamps ships to America, Canada, Australia, Europe, UK, in fact just about everywhere.

They release new stamps every month, check out the blog for competitions, prizes and lots of inspiration!!

Claire designs and draws all of the stamps that Waltzingmouse Stamps produces, but she couldn’t run the business without the help and support of her husband and wonderful kids.

Want to know more about Waltzingmouse Stamps?  Read Embellish Magazine’s interview with Claire in our premiere issue here.

This challenge requires you to create a project using labels.  Labels are used to showcase sentiments, embellishments or some other focal point.  Labels can include stamped borders of shapes, tags, embossed edges, stitched frames, etc.  You get the idea.  If you can’t find anything to use to make a label, just create something anyway using the color combination.  We want you to create and want to see what you’ve been up to!

You can incorporate the theme in many ways, such as a card, scrapbook layout, mini book, tag, gift bag, box, etc. The main colors are highlighted in Polaroid inspired color swatches. Keep the colors of your project as close to the colors in the challenge image.  Remember, colors can be incorporated into your project in more ways than cardstock.

    Don’t forget:

    1. Use the colors in the Polaroid-inspired color swatches (featured in the image above) and

    2. To create a label to highlight an image or sentiment.

You have until Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 11:59 pm EST to submit your entries below.

The photos used in the graphic are by Ashley McArthur Photography.

After the challenge ends, the design team will select six designers who created hot projects to highlight. Additionally, there will be a designer who will be featured and will win two stamp sets of the winner’s choice provided by Waltzingmouse Stamps.  The featured designers and the winner will be posted the week following the challenge end date. The winner must contact Embellish Magazine within 48 hours of the announcement. We reserve the right to select a new winner if the designer makes no contact.

To get you started, the design team has created some amazing cards that showcase labels in various ways.  This design team is so fabulous, highlighting all design styles with class.

Ashley used Very Vintage Labels No. 1 stamp set to create a custom frame embellishment for her simple sentiment.

Charlene created a label full of love using Seasons of Love – Tags stamp set to create her sweet chocolate card.

Maile used Very Vintage Labels No. 1 stamp set to showcase her sentiment and floral focal point by dividing the label on her elegant card.

    (Mariana’s stationary)

Mariana’s stationary set features Little Box Labels to highlight the contents of her exquisite handmade gift set.

Sarah stamped her label using Very Vintage Labels No. 4 to make the sentiment the focal point on her sultry design.

Tina showcased the Big Blooms – Chrysanthemums stamp set and displayed how she used faux stitching to create a unique label for her beautiful design.

I can’t post my card too, the link does not work.

When I click on “add your link”, there is no effect, we can’t add our link.
    I’m using Firefox.

  18. June 5, 2010 at 5:35 am

Undo, it’s ok, I just check the little spaces to add details and it is ok.
Sorry for the disturbing, it must be a problem with colors in the submission’s window.

  19. June 5, 2010 at 12:59 pm

Thanks for the note! I’m not sure what the problem could be for others. I just tested it and linked a project without any problems. I use Firefox v.3.6.3 if that helps anyone.

Ashley, do you mind helping me paste my link? Put my name as Fern Vanessa, and use the email in this comment (as administrator I’m sure you can see :) I’ve tried so many times to click on the “add your link” button and it’s just not working! at least not in my browser; it even appears “deformed” sometimes, as in out of proportion or not even available. So sorry for the trouble. Thank you so much!

I’m so sorry, but it’s not working still. I see the button, but it’s not doing ANYTHING when I click on it. I’ve been able to submit to other challenges using this link widget, so I don’t think it’s my browser. I guess I can’t participate in this challenge then. Anyway, thanks so much for advising, Ashley!

So elegant and worth the visit for that alone! I’ve jotted this combo into my notebook to re-visit later too – I’m seeing so many different applications now! I really enjoyed playing along. Thank you!
