• Square Cards Color Trends Challenge

Hooray! It’s Friday, there was a huge royal wedding today and now a spring challenge to jump start your creativity. For this challenge, it’s all about those soft hues. Those photos taken by Tina are amazing! Love the tea theme! You do not have to use the tea theme, just create a square card! You know if you want to scrap, we’ll check that out too!

Please make sure you review the rules below.

The photograph(s) in the challenge inspiration board are by Flying House Studios and from our very own designer, Tina Fussell!

Social media enables us to offer new ways to communicate and share ideas and you will find a number of ways to communicate with us and each other. We love to hear from you.

This challenge requires you to create a square card using the color challenge. Any square card size you want to create will fit this challenge requirement. For those scrappers out there, just make a square layout and that will work too! We want to see how you create within the square!

The main colors are featured in the challenge inspiration board above. Keep the colors of your project as close to the colors in the challenge image. Remember, colors can be incorporated into your project in more ways than cardstock. If you would like to use a neutral of white/cream and black/brown, please feel free to add it!

Upload a photo of your project to your blog or online gallery, such as Splitcoaststampers or Flickr, then copy the direct link to your project to the embedded link widget below or on one of the design team’s blogs. If you do not have a direct link to your blog/gallery posting that features the challenge, your link may be deleted. If it is deleted, no biggie, just come back and re-link the correct link! Only links left in the link widget will be considered for challenge submissions.

After the challenge ends, the design team will select top designers who created hot projects to highlight. The designers will be highlighted in a blog posting. You can find all blog postings related to challenge winners in the category menu in the footer below, called “Embellish What’s Hot.”

Additionally, there will be a designer who will be featured and will JustRite stamps (Fancy Labels, Kindness, Vintage Oval Frames). The winner must contact Embellish within 48 hours of the announcement. We reserve the right to select a new winner if the designer makes no contact.

Even if you’re feeling a bit square, the designers have some creative inspiration to share with you to help you think outside of the box. Check out how they used JustRite cling stamps to make some beautiful square cards.

Ashley created a friendship card using the Vintage Ovals stamp set. She stamped the ornate label design, hand cut it, and layered it with petite oval die cut and a sentiment strip. She kept the design very simple, allowing the label and sentiment to steal the show.

Charlene created this embossed friendship card using Friendship Blooms stamp set. She dry embossed the leaf pattern and heat embossed the blooms and the label.

Cristina designed a sweet baby card using the Fancy Labels stamp set. She stamped the entire background and embellished the card with a tag wrapped with twine and cute letters.

Mariana made this square thank you card that features the Fancy Frames stamp set. She stitched around the frame and layered it with additional die cuts with coordinating JustRite stamps.

Sarah used the You Inspire Me stamp set as the focal point of her shabby chic card. She embellished the label with a sentiment and trims.

Tina designed this card using the Fancy Tags stamp set and Happy Everything coordinating dies. She layered the card with embellishments and add the tag with twine.
